Queensland’s
first tiled car was unveiled at 10.30am on the 4 October, 2005
to launch Concept Tiles’ new range of summer renovating
colours at The Courier-Mail Home and Design Show. The Suzuki
Vitara 4WD with more than 10,000 Décor 8 bamboo-inspired
tiles will show in a unique way the latest design trends.
Brisbane
Metropolitan Concept Tiles & Surfaces spokesman, David Peel,
said design trends tipped to take a hold of the renovating and
home builder market included classic, earthy colours with minimal
feature tiles to create an eye-catching design.
“Tiling
a car isn’t our usual project but it will show how earthy
colours can be combined with feature tiles to add something
different,” Mr. Peel said.
“Visitors to the Home and Design Show will saw how a different
feature tile can alter the entire feel of a project –
with the Suzuki Vitara’s feature tiles
To create the tile covered car, more than 12m2 of marble tiles
were assembled onto mesh backing in 300mm x 300mm sheets –
taking two professional tilers more than five hours to assemble.
That’s over 30,000 individual pieces of marble!
This amazing car will be touring around Queensland over the
next 12 months at our stores, with special charity showings
available by arrangement with our Brisbane office. For more

“The
natural stone and marble tiles were secured to the car using
high-locking Velcro on a series of custom-made mats,”
Mr. Peel said.
“The
Décor 8 bamboo tiles were chosen to reflect the urban
jungle so many of us find ourselves in today, while the series
of images featured on the bonnet are reminders of the simple
things in life we often take for granted.
The Suzuki Grand Vitara, sponsored by Concept Tiles, The Courier-Mail
and Suzuki was given away at Courier-Mail Home and Design Show
which took place at the Convention Centre this October.
Opened
in 1997, Concept Tiles and Surfaces currently boast 12 stores
across Queensland with plans to open another seven stores over
the next two years.
The
new Urban Stone and Decor 8 range will be available at Concept
Tiles and Surfaces stores throughout Queensland. Concept Tiles
